Which Pool Size is Right for Me?

When starting your search for the perfect pool, the best place to begin is by deciding on the size. Pools come in three main shapes: Round, Oval, and Grecian. There's no "best" shape—it all comes down to personal preference, how it fits in your yard, and your local city or town codes.

Most city codes are similar and typically focus on:

✅ Distance from your property line

✅ Electrical lines (both underground and overhead)

✅ Pool height (which may impact fencing requirements)

If you're unsure about underground electrical lines, contact Diggers Hotline in Wisconsin or JULIE in Illinois before proceeding.

How to Determine the Right Size for Your Yard

The easiest way to visualize different pool sizes is to grab a tape measure and use yard flags, stakes, or spray paint to outline potential options. Once marked, try the following:

✔ Stand inside the outlined space

✔ Walk around it

✔ Lay down and imagine relaxing (a fruity drink with an umbrella is optional!)

This hands-on approach gives you a true feel for how a pool will fit in your backyard.
