Hansen's Pool Closings

POOL CLOSINGS - BAQUACIL

1. Bring in a water sample before closing your pool.  Add the necessary chemicals to properly balance pool water.  Pool should not be closed when the weather is still warm and water temperature is above 65 degrees.

2. Clean pool thoroughly.  Oxidize and add algicide if pool is green or water is cloudy.  Vacuum and remove any leaves and debris.  Clean water line with surface cleaner while water is draining.

3.Lower water level approximately 6" below the wall skimmer or return fitting.  NOW IS THE IDEAL TIME TO INSTALL THE NEW AQUADOR CLOSURE SYSTEM!!  Failture to lower the water level below the plastic fixtures may result in damaged or cracked parts due to freezing water.

4. Drain water from skimmer, remove basket and replace top.  Remove ladder(s) from pool.

5. Disconnect filtration equipment.  Drain all water from pump and tank.  Sand should be removed, and D.E. and cartridge filters shuld be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly with a filter cleaner.  If pump and/or tank cannot be removed from a pool site, then pool anti-freeze must be added to the equipment after it is drained.

6.Add winterizing chemicals along with the WINTER PILL.  Test your Baquacil level and top it up to 50.  Add double your normal amount of algicide and your normal amount of Oxidizer.

7. Secure ice expansion pillow in center of pool.  One square for round pools;two square for oval pools.  This will help to prevent damage to walls due to water expansion when frozen.  The is a sacrificial item!

8.  Secure cover according to manufacturer's instructions.  Make sure there is no debris in the pool that could cause staining of the liner.  Cover should "drape" over pillow and rest on surface of water.  Cover should NOT be pulled taut and NEVER use jugs as weights!  If you have a wind problem, use COVER CLIPS and WINTER COVER SEAL.  Once the cover is in place, secure cable.  Add water to top of cover to assist in keeping cover from billowing.

9. Clean solar cover, ladders, hoses and accessories with Cover Cleaner and Surface Cleaner.  Store cover and accessories in a dry area no subject to severe weather or temperature.
